I love online shopping too! And guess what? Kids don't outgrow asking for stuff in a store. My teens try to coerce me into buying stuff all the time. They don't succeed though. :-)

Realize that small deductions add up. My bank is 5.6 miles away. With the current IRS standard mileage deduction of 50.5 cents per mile, every trip to the bank for a business related transaction results in a deduction of $2.83 (50.5 cents x 5.6 miles). Last year alone my mileage deduction totaled $1,971. (I record each trip in a mileage log in order to provide documentation for the IRS.) Remember, deductions decrease taxable income, and lower taxable income means paying less tax.

Hi Miss Kalisha! It's so nice to see your beautiful face again.

Something we do during February, is find a luxury hotel online with a pool for our three girls. They usually have fantastic off-season deals and specials. If we're near the city, we do as many free things as possible, like bookstores, window shopping, and just walking the streets to look at old houses. We also live near the coastline in the Northwest, so we are outside a lot. This makes downtown something out of the ordinary.

We also have this great card we bought at Boonshoft Museum. You have to check it out. boonshoftmuseum.org. It's under $70 for the entire family for a year, and it covers lots of zoos, aquariums, and some children's museums, spanning the entire USA. You can use it as many times as you want too. We take it whenever we travel and if we happen to stop in a city which accepts our card, we go, even if it's only for an hour break.

It's late, and I can't sleep, so I'm going back to bed. Love you bunches.

I've started working at home and these are really great tips. My kids are all in school now, but even in the summer I felt guilty about hiring childcare, since I was at home. I wish I had given myself this permission, many years ago. Looks like a great book!

I think I'd barf if I got too close to that thing after licking the lollipop. I know they don't have the stinger still in them, but ew! They do seem like something a teen or male would really be into (and some mommies too, lol). Oh, well. I'll mention it to our youth leader, but not to my two precious 9 and 11 year old girls. Thanks for sharing.

This is a great post! You are lucky you live so close to "free" beaches! If we want to see the ocean we have to do some major traveling.

One thing we did on our vacation to Oregon this summer was fly kites. As I was researching the trip I read that Oregon beaches are ideal for flying kites. I purchased $1.99 kites before we left and we used one afternoon to fly them on the beach. It was a total blast! If you research a destination before you go, you can usually come up with lots of ideas for inexpensive activities.
