Letter G

Hope this finds you having a great day! Today is going to be devoted to the letter G. Here are some ideas on how to include G into your day:

  • Sing Songs like  G’s are Growing

(Sung To: ‘Ferec Jacques’)
G’s are Growing, G’s are Growing
On the Ground, all around
Growing grass, and Goosebumps
Growing grass and goosebumps
On the Ground all Around

HA! Am I the only one that thinks that is kind of a wierd song? Funny, though.

  • Play G Games!
  • Eat GOOD food!…Granola Bars, graham crackers, gingerbread cookies!
  • Use your imagination and have some fun with Grocery Store dramatic play.
  • To make your Letter G page; Draw the outline of the G on a piece of construction paper. Find pictures from magazines or draw goldfish, giraffes, or veggies from your garden.

Today our craft is Stuffed Gingerbread People

What you need:

  • Paper Grocery Bags (You can go to your local grocery store and ask for a few)
  • Plastic Grocery bags, cotton or fabric scraps
  • Yarn
  • Hole-punch or sharp knife
  • Paint, markers, crayons
  • Glue, scissors
  • And anything else to make your gingerbread man beautiful!

What to do:

  • Trace the shape of a gingerbread man on the paper sack. Or you can print the template to use as a guide, but make sure you make the gingerbread man big enough to have room to stuff it.
  • Now cut out the shape through both layers of the bag
  • Holding your two pieces of gingerbread man together hole punch along the edge of the shape.
  • Now you can use paper clips to hold the man in place. Make a thread of yarn and have your child thread the yarn throughout the gingerbread man leaving an opening to stuff him
  • Take your fabric scraps, cotton or plastic bags and stuff the gingerbread until he is slightly plump!
  • Now you can decorate your gingerbread man however you like! Have fun!
