Do you ever end your day a little (or very) frazzled, wondering where the day went. And feeling like you didn’t have time to do anything, let alone brush your teeth until noon! We have had many days like this especially when you are caring for a newborn, but there are ways to maximize your time during the day so that your day runs more smoothly. It all comes down to preparation. So, here are a few tips on what we do to maximize our time.

  1. Set your clothes for the next day, the night before.
  2. Tidy up the house before your go to bed, at least the kitchen.
  3. 5-minute face in the morning. Head straight to the bathroom right when you wake up so that you can get yourself together and be ready for the day.
  4. Run the dishwasher when you go to bed so that they will be ready and clean in the morning. Then after each meal rinse and put dishes in dishwasher and repeat all over again.
  5. Clean up while you cook.
  6. During naps; dinner prep., tidy, relax!

We hope that these tips help and that you are able to use your time more effectively. The most important thing that we can give our children is our time. Our philosophy is that our kids won’t remember how clean the house is, but how much time we spent with them. So, drop the mop and pick up a crayon! lol

How to lounge: lesson 3

Lounge tip # 3:  Give your hands a break

As mom our hand are an essential tool, it is also one of the most neglected.  Today give your hands a break and treat them to a manicure

1.       Carefully wash and dry your hands.

2.       Clip away any torn or ragged edges

3.       File them using a gentle stroke in one direction, avoiding the corners to prevent weakening of the nail.

4.       Apply cuticle oil (olive oil works just fine), working it gently into your nails.  Allow it to remain on your hands for a minute or so, then, soak your hands in a bowl of warm water for a few minutes. (Remember you deserve this time, so enjoy it!)

5.       Gently push back your cuticles and clip away any hangnails.

6.       Apply your favorite lotion.

7.       After you select a nail color paint one stroke down the center of your nail. Then, use one stroke down each of the two sides of your nail.  (Your entire nail should be completely covered in three strokes).

8.       Apply one more coat for nail protection.  Allow to dry before doing anything!

*Other nail tips:

·          Do not change your polish more than once a week, because the nail polish dries the skin

·          Always clean all of your manicure equipment with alcohol when you are finished.

·          Manicure items to keep on hand:  Nail clippers, cuticle scissors, cotton balls, emory boards, and nail polish remover. Source:
